Decorative plants for every season
For years, we have passionately cultivated ornamental cypress trees, hardy and suitable for any space, ideal for those seeking ornamental plants that are hardy and easy to maintain.
Our plants are the result of careful selection and experimentation, to ensure robust varieties that tolerate extreme climates—from frost to summer heat.
Over the years, we have moved from producing majestic specimens for parks and large spaces to young, compact plants, ideal for small gardens, flowerbeds, roof gardens, terraces, and decorations.
Practical pots, easy transplanting in any season, and that touch of color that lasts all year round.
The company Torselli was founded in the mid-1950s when Renzo Torselli , a direct grower, began to replace traditional agricultural activity with nursery activity. In the early years, the main nursery activity was based on the production of young fruit plants, common boxwood, ivy, and pyracantha from seed. Since Tuscany is rich in cypress trees, it was natural to begin reproducing them by collecting seeds from the plants present in the area and grafting various species onto the wild seedlings obtained.
In the initial phase, the most widely produced species were “cupressus arizonica” (conical and fastigiate), “macrocarpa aurea” and, of course, the cupressus sempervirens pyramidalis, also known as “black cypress,” a typical selection and the pride of the entire Pistoia nursery.

Cypress was one of the most prized woods in the Mediterranean, strong and aromatic, and ancient doctors advised their patients to stay in areas where cypress forests grew (the island of Crete was famous) because they believed it purified the air. Even Hippocrates knew about its antibacterial properties: when the plague broke out in Athens, he advised his citizens to burn cypress trees and aromatic herbs on street corners to stop the epidemic.
